Welcome to new AVA President, Dr Warwick Vale

26 May 2020

Dr Warwick Vale has become national President of the AVA, after serving the past 18 months on the Board. Warwick has 30 years experience in equine veterinary, with a passion in leadership, governance and clinical practice.

Dr Vale said he is delighted to be able to lead the association, along with it being an honour and privilege to be elected President of the AVA.

“As we work through these unprecedented times with bushfires and COVID-19 we are quickly establishing new ways of working through our digital platforms to provide continual education and ongoing communications. With 2021 being our centenary we will continue to ensure that we anticipate the future needs of the profession and most importantly promote and advance veterinary science within our profession and the wider community.

“I look forward to chairing a Board of skilled and passionately engaged directors, who are committed to the success of the profession,” said Dr Vale.

“I’d like to thank the AVA’s immediate past-president Dr Julia Crawford for her leadership during a difficult 12 months. Dr Crawford will remain on the Board for another year.

“We farewelled Drs Robert Johnson and Ken Jacobs, who have provided valuable guidance and assistance during their tenure on the AVA Board.

“We also look forward to working with new Board directors, Drs Sally Colgan and Alan Guilfoyle”
